Soft Skull Open Submissions June-July 2021

US indie press Soft Skull is open to unagented full-manuscript submissions in a variety of genres including poetry until 20 July 2021. From the website: “We are primarily seeking and strongly encouraging submissions from BIPOC writers and underrepresented voices of any race, gender, age, sexual orientation, religion, nationality, class, and physical or mental ability.” Full info here.

Perverse poems wanted

Don’t mix this up with “perverted”: the editors of this digital newsletter want poems that are: “deliberate, obstinate, unreasonable or unacceptable, contrary to the expected practice”. Send up to 3 poems by midnight 31 July 2021 (British Summer Time). You can read previous issues and submit here.

Body poems for The Alchemy Spoon

The Alchemy Spoon is open for submissions on the theme of “Body” for issue 4. Submit up to 3 unpublished poems by 30 June 2021. As ever, the editors are particularly keen to hear from poets who’ve come to poetry late, “often following retirement or a life change”. The publication appears online 3 times a year, and is also available in print-on-demand. https://www.alchemyspoon.org/

Visual Verse February 2021

Online poetry journal Visual Verse has posted this month’s picture for creative writing responses. As ever, you have until 15th to respond, but I’d get your piece in asap. You have an hour in which to write it. View the piggy inspiration here.
