Details:

The £3000 prize is open to poets who were born in Africa, or who are nationals of an African country, or whose parents are African. The prize is for ten poems exactly in order to encourage serious poets. These poems may, however, have been published. Only poets who have not yet had a full-length poetry book published are eligible. Poets who have self-published poetry books or had chapbooks and pamphlets published are allowed to submit for this prize.

War Poetry for Today | Closing Date: 27-Nov-14

Theatre Cloud, in conjunction with the Touring Consortium Theatre Company and their new UK touring production of Pat Barker’s Regeneration, is making a call out for you to write POETRY ABOUT WAR and BECOME A WAR POET OF TODAY. We want your response to images of war in poetry. We are looking for the war poets of TODAY. 1st prize: £500, 2 runners up will each win £250. All three poems will also receive a public reading of their poem during the last week of Regeneration.

SLAMbassadors UK 2014 ( For entrants Aged 12-18) | Closing Date: 10-Oct-14

Another last-minute one – apologies again. Poetry Society’s national youth slam championships. Theme: Identity. Judges: A panel of artists including Kate Tempest. The 6 final winners will be invited to London to attend a master class led by poet Joelle Taylor, before performing a debut professional set at the Royal Festival Hall on October 31st. Open to all 12-18 year olds resident in England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales.
