Enigmas wanted

The Elmbridge Literary Competition offers free entry to young writers aged 5-17. This year’s theme is “Enigma”. Send one poem and/or one story. Deadline: 28 February 2022. Full details here.

Young Writers’ Competition

9-18-year-olds are invited to submit to the 2021/2022 Never Such Innocence competition, which has the theme ‘Life After Conflict’. Closing date: 18 March 2022. There are four categories – Art, Poetry, Speech and Song – and you may enter once in each category. Full info here.

Young People’s free comp

The East Riding Festival of Words poetry competition is free to enter for young people age 4-16. The theme is: My Reasons to be Cheerful. Deadline is 11.59pm UK time on Saturday 27 November 2021. Full info here.

Foyle Young Poets of the Year Award

This prestigious international prize is open to poets aged 11 to 17. Deadline 31 July 2015.

‘With acclaimed poets Liz Berry and Michael Symmons Roberts at the helm, this year’s competition is once again on the hunt for the world’s most exciting new poets aged 11-17. Last year the Award received entries from 7,603 young poets from a total 78 countries, cementing its position as the world’s largest literary competition. Among last year’s winners were poets from France, Israel, Australia, New Zealand, India, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Canada and the USA – and from right across the UK.’
